Seeing Life Through the Eyes of the Heart

“Perhaps gratitude begins when we stop asking life for more and begin noticing what has quietly been here all along.”

Dear Friends,

As we move through November and another year slowly approaches its end, I find myself reflecting on the journey that has brought me to this moment.

Life has a way of carrying us forward. We make plans, meet responsibilities, care for others and work towards the things we hope to achieve. Sometimes we become so occupied with what comes next that we forget to pause and appreciate where we are.

It is often only when we stop that we begin to notice.

The people who have walked beside us.

The conversations that have stayed with us.

The kindness that arrived when we least expected it.

The lessons we did not understand at the time, but which later helped us see life differently.

For me, gratitude has become much more than saying thank you. It is a way of looking at life with greater awareness.

Gratitude Is Not About Having a Perfect Life

I have come to understand that gratitude does not mean pretending everything is wonderful.

Life brings us joy, but it also brings uncertainty, disappointment, change and loss. There are moments when finding something to be grateful for may feel difficult, and I believe we should allow ourselves to acknowledge those feelings honestly.

We do not need to turn every difficult experience into a positive lesson.

Sometimes it is enough simply to acknowledge what has happened and give ourselves time.

Gratitude does not ask us to ignore our struggles. It invites us to remain open to the possibility that, even during difficult times, there may still be moments of kindness, connection or understanding.

Perhaps gratitude is not about being thankful for everything that happens. Perhaps it is about remaining aware of the things that still give our lives meaning.

The People Who Shape Our Journey

When I look back over my own life, I recognise how many people have contributed to the person I am today.

Family, friends, teachers, colleagues, students and people I have met along the way have all left their mark in some way.

Some have offered encouragement.

Others have challenged my thinking.

Some have shared laughter and companionship, while others have helped me understand the importance of patience, acceptance and letting go.

Not every relationship lasts forever. Not every conversation ends as we might have hoped. Yet many encounters leave us with something worth reflecting upon.

As a Reiki Master Teacher, I am grateful for the people who have trusted me to share their experiences and walk alongside them for a part of their journey.

I have never believed that teaching means having all the answers. Every person brings their own experiences, understanding and wisdom.

Sometimes, in the process of sharing, I find myself learning just as much as the person sitting before me.

For that, I am grateful.

Gratitude and the Reiki Path

The Reiki precepts offer us a daily reminder to live with greater awareness, kindness and gratitude.

For me, their value is not simply in remembering the words. It is in asking how we might bring their meaning into our everyday lives.

Can we become more aware of our thoughts and actions?

Can we treat ourselves and others with greater kindness?

Can we recognise the moments when we are reacting automatically and choose, instead, to pause?

Reiki has encouraged me to look beyond the practice itself and consider how I live when I leave the space where I practise.

Do I carry patience into my conversations?

Do I listen without immediately preparing an answer?

Can I offer kindness without expecting something in return?

These are simple questions, but they invite a lifetime of reflection.

Gratitude becomes meaningful when it moves beyond words and begins to influence the way we treat the world around us.

A Quiet Invitation for November

This month, I invite you to make a little room for gratitude.

You do not need a special journal, a particular crystal or a dedicated meditation space. If those things are meaningful to you, by all means include them.

All you really need is a few quiet moments.

At the beginning or end of each day, ask yourself:

What am I grateful for today that I might otherwise have overlooked?

It may be something significant, or it may be something very ordinary.

A phone call from a friend.

A meal shared with family.

The sound of birds in the morning.

A moment of laughter.

The opportunity to begin again after a difficult day.

Write it down if you wish.

Over time, you may begin to notice how many small moments contribute to the richness of your life.

Not every day will bring an easy answer. That is perfectly all right. Allow gratitude to be an invitation, not another expectation placed upon yourself.

Looking Towards December

As we approach the final month of the year, I hope you will take a little time to reflect on your own journey.

Not simply on what you have achieved, but on what you have discovered about yourself.

Perhaps you have become more patient.

Perhaps you have learned to listen more carefully.

Perhaps you have let go of something that no longer serves you, or found the courage to begin something new.

Growth is not always visible to others. Sometimes the most important changes happen quietly within us.

Thank you for being part of the Starcraft Healing community and for sharing this journey of reflection, awareness and personal growth.

May November give you opportunities to pause, appreciate and reconnect with what matters most.

Walk gently. Notice deeply. Live with gratitude.

With gratitude and every blessing,
